I will also talk about the difference in game platform architectures and workloads compared to traditional desktop processors. Bio: Hyesoon Kim is an Assistant Professor in the School of Computer Science at Georgia Institute of Technology. Her research interests include high-performance energy-efficient heterogeneous architectures such as CPGPU and programmer-compiler-microarchitecture interaction. She is currently advising 4 Ph.D students and teaching design game consoles in this spring semester. 2.IEEE Social Event - Video Game NightDear IEEE members: Dead week is just around the corner. Before diving into books and caffeine, come join Prof. Lanterman and your fellow students for a video game night hosted by the IEEE, using the five Xbox 360s in Klaus 1446. The Xboxes will be locally networked and loaded with Left 4 Dead, but feel free to bring other multiplayer games you'd like to try. This is not a formal competition - it's just a chance to have some fun. We'll also have some pizza and drinks for you to enjoy in the hallway just outside the lab If you are interested in participating, please e-mail lanterma@ece.gatech.edu with the subject "GAME NIGHT" to confirm a spot. The number of guaranteed spots may be limited. Walks-ins are welcome, but may not be guaranteed play time. Again, the details are as follows:
3. Community Service - Atlanta Day Shelter for Women and Children: Volunteers needed! To: Members of the IEEE PES, PELS, IAS, IES, Region 3, Region 7, Region 8, Region 9 The IEEE student branch is looking to assist the Atlanta Day Shelter for Women and Children with teaching classes in basic and intermediate PC literacy. This means basically starting from turning the computer on to doing simple tasks like opening programs, drafting emails, and other fundamental processes that we all use on a daily basis. The User manuals to teach the class have already been compiled by Women in ECE (WECE), so there is a place to start with. We are looking for people who can teach classes regularly during weekdays on a relatively long-term basis. In addition, we are also looking for people interested in spending time with the children there, serving meals or sorting supplies (such as food, clothing etc.) that the shelter receives. Please reply to Stephen Ward (stephenward@gatech.edu) or Vivek Kumar (vivekkumar@gatech.edu) if you are interested and would like to help in any way. Thank you. |
